Salami Picante is the original Italian Pepperoni... not to be confused with the American pepperoni found on every pizza outside Italy. Ours is made from 100% free-range rare-breed pork. It has been infused with a blend of hot and sweet smoked capsicum to create a balance of flavours that will keep you coming back for more. This salami really is delicious!
How hot is Salami Picante? To be honest, it's pretty difficult to convey heat using a keyboard. We've played around with the original Calabrian recipe and adjusted the amount of chilli that we add to suit our customers tastes. It's not silly-hot, but you'll get a definite after-kick of chilli in every mouthful. Personally, I believe the quality of a good Salami Picante is in the perfectly balanced taste of both pork and spices.... the heat is important, but it's not the main course.
Salami Picante can be:
- enjoyed thinly sliced with freshly made sourdough bread and a glass of red wine.
- incorporated into a charcuterie board.
- found basking on top of our home made pizza - when we crave that spicy meat-feast
